Derek Wolfe ran out of the tunnel with his brother-in-law, a U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer.

Veterans Day weekend became a family affair for Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe on Sunday.

Wolfe ran out of the tunnel prior to the Broncos' Sunday Night Football game against the Patriots with his brother-in-law Brian Burrows, a U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer.

Wolfe jogged side-by-side with Burrows, who was in uniform and held an American flag in his left hand, out of the tunnel and through rows of Broncos players and military personnel.

Burrows, 30, has served two tours overseas, according to the NBC broadcast.

Wolfe said prior to the game he was excited to share such a special moment with his brother-in-law.

"I think it's going to be something we're going to remember for the rest of our lives," the 27-year-old defensive end said, according to statement posted on the team's website. "It will be in our family, and we'll get to show pictures of that and video of that forever. It'll be pretty cool."

Wolfe, who also wore a helmet sticker honoring the Navy SEALS, believes it's important to give recognition to military personnel and acknowledge the sacrifice they make.

"I think it's important for us to recognize them," Wolfe said, per the Broncos' website. "We wouldn't have these freedoms we have if it wasn't for them."
